Whenever I find any articles on my brother I will be blogging about it as a keepsake. This is a good one about how good a job he is doing and what the head coach Bret Bielema thinks of him.

Huge News! My brother, Jared Abbrederis #13, went from 3rd string wide receiver to the 4th spot last week Saturday to the 1st string #2 position as of today! Praise the Lord!
He still needs a lot of prayers because he will be under a lot of pressure throughout the season to maintain his spot. By continually improving and not making any mistakes. But he is doing a great job so far! Obviously the head coach and assistant coaches think so as well :)
It is overwhelmingly exciting to see how the Lord has brought him through a broken femur and torn ACL his sophomore year in high school to a state football title his senior year and now to a division 1 football team! So many tears of joy and gratefulness. The Lord has big plans for his life and as long as Jared continues to honor Him and bless His name Jared will go far. I am so proud of him for working so diligently at learning his position and working so hard to improve himself! He has made a lot of sacrifices but the Lord is blessing him greatly.

Getting Sick of Being Sick
Well I thought we were in the clear after Brad got sick May 18 with 24 hour stomach flu, I got it May 19, and then Owen got sick May 20 for a week in a half but not the case.
I was busy not cooking but cleaning up fluids from both ends. Exhausting! Brynn was lucky and stayed healthy for the first time ever in her life and I was grateful but in the back of my mind was wondering if it would catch up to her. Owen was doing good no throw up since May 29 but the diarrhea hung on for some time, making eating quite a struggle. Not that he didn't want to eat (he is a garbage disposal) I just couldn't give him more than cheerios, crackers, rice, bananas, and powerade/pedialyte no formula diet. I started feeding him safe foods once the diarrhea went away June 1 but within in a couple of days it came back! So June 3 we went back onto the cheerios, crackers, rice, and bananas diet but continued formula up until Saturday. Which is when our dear little girl Brynn came down with an uncomfortably high fever yesterday at 11am. She was lethargic, eyes rolling in the back of her head, and burning up to point where her skin was visibly red! After an hour of Tylenol being in her system, her temperature was at 103.8! Even with a cold/lukewarm bath, cold washcloths, and drinking water; her temperature only came down to 101.8. I gave her Motrin and Tylenol all day and night but her temperature never broke until this morning at 11am. She is doing better but we aren't in the clear yet. It is times like these I feel assured that one day I will go back to finish my Nursing Degree and use my skills that I have learned over the past 3 years of being a mother and wife.

Owen's 1 Year Stats
Given the fact that Owen was really sick for a week in a half and lost 3 pounds, putting him at 22 pounds ounces (50 percentile) instead of 25 pounds. I like chunk on my babies so it made me really sad to see him lose 3 pounds :( On the upside, what Owen lacks in weight he most definately makes up in his length and head size. His head circumference is at 48 cm (90 percentile) and he is 33 inches long (100 percentile). My big boy :)

Happy Birthday Owen
It has been a year since Owen was born and there is a lot to recall but I can name a few things that mean the most to me.
- His sweet demeanor
- The ease he gives me with just one cuddle/hug (which is given freely and constantly)
- The way he worships his big sister, Brynn
- How easy it is to make him laugh and the sound of his laugh
- He is such a great eater
- How cute he is (I am biased but am I really?)
- The fact that he is such a big boy but still makes me feel like he is my baby
- He loves being outside and is so stimulated wanting to know about everything
- I see his personality shine through more and more each day
Above all I pray and hope that I will be able to educate him and guide/help him learn more about who the Lord is and what He has in store for his life. Happy Birthday Owen! We love you so much precious baby boy!

Other Milestones:
Owen crawls under and over everything, squats like it is no ones business, goes up and down the step, climbs onto and into everything, he can pull himself up and walk around holding onto something, he has taken steps but doesn't have enough confidence that he can do it on his own, he can stand without holding onto anything until he decides he had enough, he is trying to figure out how to stand up from sitting without anything around him, he babbles and yells (making noise), clucks his tongue, says "dada" just not "mama" yet, spits/blows bubbles, puts everything into his mouth, he loves to laugh and make you laugh by playing peek-a-boo with blankets or my scarf, splashing water and playing in the sand and grass, he loves to give hugs and kisses, and loves any blankets and stuffed animals. 
Owen continues to bring so much joy and laughter into our lives. He is such a good baby and melts my heart. But more than that it melts my heart to see the capacity of love and tolerance both Brynn and Owen have for each other. Brynn is the one person that he can't wait to see and play with everyday. They both know how to make each other laugh and cry, but they don't seem to care. When Brynn isn't in the carseat next to him, he loses it because since day 1 she has always been in the carseat next to him.

My Latest Project
Every year spring rolls around and I am dying to get outside and catch some much needed rays of sun. What better way than to find a project to work on! I found I have a reoccuring theme, landscaping. I get this from all the years working on projects with my dad and I have found out that even when I go home to visit I find projects for them to work on around their house.
You are going to need a little background about the house we are renting in order to fully understand what I did. About 2 years ago, March 2008, I took a sledgehammer to the backyard. There were weird brickplanters and a grill that was not in working shape all over the place. I couldn't stand looking at the mess of a unorganized landscaping job...so I went to work.

We laid concrete to fill in the uneven cement job. We ripped up the flagstone all along the back of the house that was about 3" thick while trying to save as much possible to use in the front yard (it used to be where the table and chairs are now), and filled in grass where the corner brickplanter used to be.
I took out the old brick raised flower bed and replaced it with smaller red bricks with a new design. I made it into a vegetable garden and also added hanging flower pots around the walls of the backyard to add some color.

I dug up the green plastic looking shrub bushes that were in the brick flowerbed in front of the window and replaced them with vincas. I also ripped out both brick flowerbeds that were in front of each archs along with the green plastic looking shrub bushes and river rock. I used the bricks from the flowerbed to make a new outline flowerbed for the camellias in front of one of the arches. As for the other arch, I had to dig up durt level it off pour in sand then take the flagstone from the backyard that I was able to salvage and lay it down so that we could fill it in with concrete. If I do say so myself it looks great! :)

3 Months of Sickness
It has been hard for me to get motivated to update our blog, let alone take pictures of everyone. I have been very busy taking care of a very sick little boy and an occasional sick little girl. Brynn has had 2 sinus infections and really bad allergies, but nothing medicine can't handle. Owen on the other hand has fought 2 rounds of croup, 2 ear infections, a cold, the flu that lasted almost 2 weeks, a bleeding bottom from all the diarreha, and now teething! So needless to say I have been back and forth to the doctor's office every week sometimes a couple of times in a week, and I have made a couple runs to the emergency room. I can now say that we are all good besides Owen cutting in his 2 bottom front teeth finally and Brynn with really bad allergies. It has taken me about a week to regain energy and emotional stability though. Thank you for all your prayers because their is no way I would have made it.

Mesa PD
I was going to let Brad write about the Mesa PD but I thought I should at least give an you the news of the recent happenings. Brad can add to it later if he wants to. Yesterday we received in the mail a letter from the Mesa Police Department informing us that they were no longer going to consider Brad as an applicant. He was pretty upset, discouraged, and shocked as well as myself. At least we know that the Lord doesn't want us there but it is still hard accepting it when it doesn't make sense and doesn't seem fair. So please pray for us while we are having a bit of a hard time dealing with this news and now having to continue waiting patiently on the Lord to provide Brad with what we hope is a promotion at Home Depot that has been being talked about for a couple months now. We also want to thank those of you who have been praying for us through the process.

A Heart of Worship
Yesterday when we got home from church, Brynn was singing over and over again the song she learned in sunday school "Yes Jesus Loves Me". I have never taught her that song so I was quite impressed that she remembered it! Lately she has been pretty hard on listening to her Worship DVD, literally! She watches it everyday twice a day and 3-4 times in a row. She asks for "Let Let All the Children" then sings and dances right along. I just love hearing her little voice sing and the heart that so desires to worship. I have found out sadly if I take the DVD away as a punishment it actually gets across to her and she obeys.

Christmas and New Years in Wisconsin
We had a great time visiting my family back in Wisconsin this past month along with the wonderful cold and snow. 2 days after arriving in Wisconsin I had to take Owen into Urgent Care because he wasn't any better. He ended up having a respiratory infection and the croup returned. So the first week I was there we were pretty much taking care of Owen and not getting a lot of sleep. He started to get better a couple of days after the steroids and antibiotic were done (a week and a half). Brynn just loved playing outside in the snow and riding on the snowmobile. Her vocabulary grew each day we were there and definately loved making everyone laugh. Brynn and Owen loved playing with each other and at times Brynn was the only person who could make Owen laugh.
Jared, my brother, was down in Florida from December 21-December 30 for the Champs Bowl Game. It was kind of weird not having him home for Christmas but being on a Division 1 football team that is how it works. At least he got a couple huge christmas presents from the University and Bowl! He got a $575 Best Buy gift card and a couple extra hundred dollars in his pocket. Boy why didn't someone tell us that earlier in our college years! Brad should have gone to play for a Division 1 football team ;)
While we were there Owen grew up from a baby into a little toddler. He now drinks from a sippy cup, eats puffed rice or cheerios, crawls or scoots, waves hello and bye-bye, pulls himself up on things to his knees and stands up in his crib, walks holding our hands and even took a few quick steps on his own with no help! Our little baby boy now weighs 22 pounds 9 ounces and just turned 7 months old!
Brynn finally cut thru all of her eye teeth leaving her 2 year molars the last to come in, but you can't really see the eye teeth since they take forever. Literally they are only in about 1/4 of the way.
Brad and I were able to sneak in 2 dates in the 10 days he was there and it was much needed. We saw Sherlock Holmes one date and then Christianos Pizza for some amazing Italian food the other date. Brad enjoyed his time outside riding the snowmobile, cutting trees down, and hunting.
As for me, I just enjoyed relaxing, spending time with my family, and the temporary cold and snow :)
