ENT Specialist

Brynn has suffered from many ear infections and so we were referred to the Ear Nose and Throat specialist back in December. She had lots of fluid still sitting in her ears but thankfully no ear infections since November. We were given an antibiotic to use for 3 weeks that is supposed to help drain/dry up all the fluid in her ears before reverting to ear tubes. We just went back to see if it helped and it did in the right ear but not the heavily affected left ear. So the doctor would like to go ahead and put ear tubes in. Since she has been a very pleasant girl and sleeping long hours both naptime and bedtime, I asked if there was anything else we can try before surgery. There is! Because the summer months are approaching and ear infections tend to come in the winter months Dr. Mancuso was willing to try antihistamines, Zyrtec. Brynn will be taking Zyrtec for 4 weeks and then another visit back to the office to see if it helped drain/dry up the fluid still in the left ear. If by then it doesn't work Brynn will be scheduled to have ear tubes put in.
